Microsoft Made Windows 10 ADK RC Available

Microsoft Australia OEM Team has posted a blog on May 2nd: “Windows ADK Release Candidate available“. Windows ADK (Assessment and Deployment Kit) is a tool for Windows OEMs and ODMs to test, customized new release of Windows. ADK is usually made available before new version of Windows release.

Download the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) RC for Windows 10 to install tools and documentation for OEMs and ODMs to customize Windows 10 images, assess the quality and performance of systems or components, and to deploy Windows operating systems to new computers. The Windows ADK includes Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer (Windows ICD), the Windows Assessment Toolkit, the Windows Performance Toolkit, and several new and improved deployment tools that can help you automate a large-scale deployment of Windows 10.

This is the ADK Release Candidate (RC), not the final released ADK. Usually there are one or two RCs before release. This one is clearly for Windows 10.

Why is this important to us? Because it implies Windows 10 RTM (Release To Manufacturing) is not too far away. Rumors had pointed out a June RTM. The normal logic goes like this: Early JUNE Windows 10 RTM ->Early August new PC release to market -> Back to school.

If Windows 10 is to release in summer, the above time frame makes most sense.
